The End of Spring Break

This last week has been a lovely Spring Break for me, and I hate to give it up and go back into the rat race tomorrow morning! It started out with a trip to visit the Grandboy, a joyous way to start any break. There were more sunny days than non-sunny days, although the temperatures were not what I would call really warm. I spent lovely, lazy mornings with a cup of coffee visiting blogs and writing posts. I read like a demon all week, stopped in at the library numerous times, made one trip to the bookstore, went through the drive-through at Starbucks too many times to count, and even listened to 2 short and very enjoyable audiobooks while knitting. What a pleasure to have time with the Grandboy, time at home in the daylight hours, time to read, time to knit!
This week was my reward and my recovery time for months of very intense and emotionally draining work. I love my work, but that’s the truth of it! Other teachers know that these breaks are absolutely necessary for survival! I was so tired when it began, but now I think I’m recharged and ready to meet those 8 year olds again in the morning for the final two-and-a-half month stretch! Next stop: Summer!

Robin, I’m glad to hear that you had some real quality time during your break. Good for you and now the next couple of month will probably just fly by. Have a good week!

    He is a doll –

I understand completely about the need for a break from teaching to re-energize. And about the blessings of summer!

Thanks, Kay. It was such a nice week, however it was fun to see the kids again today.

Thanks, Nan. He is very dear…and such a happy boy!

Thanks, Jenclair…you know what joy those Grandkids bring! And you definitely understand the importance of breaks for teachers.

Thanks, Nymeth. It was such a lovely break, but it was nice to greet the kids this morning feeling a little more rested.

Thanks, Bookfool. I’m sorry your break sorta sucked. That was what happened for my very short mid-winter break. It sucked big time because I was sick the whole time. I hope all is well with you.

These final weeks of work will go so quickly for you.
Next week, I am going up to Sitka, Alaska to help my son with his two young children while his Coast Guard helicopter pilot wife, Shana, goes to a week long class in Washington D.C.
I plan to stay away from the computer and read when the kids are sleeping. It is always nice to be with grandchildren.

I’m a stay at home mom of two, so don’t get a Spring Break myself, so am really jealous of yours – it sounded lovely!

Thanks, Julie. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time in Alaska with your beautiful grandchildren (although you’ll be tired when you return!). And having some quiet time to read will be lovely!

Stephanie, stay-at-home moms never get many breaks! They definitely need Spring Breaks, too! At some point, your “spring break” might be right after mine ends…when the kids go back to school!

Lovely image here. I’m glad you enjoyed your break and feel recharged. I also got some baby time in last week with my new nephew – he’s five months old.

It makes me smile reading how much you enjoyed your break…and used it wisely from the sound of it. Good for you! I hope the return to work wasn’t too traumatic and that your summer break comes swiftly.

Sounds pretty much like heaven. One of my fondest memories as a boy was a week I spent in a cabin in the Sierra Nevadas with a huge stack of books and a fair size crate of apples. I still remember read Aesop’s fables as I sat on the balcony munching fruit and smelling the pine scented air.

Thanks, Tara. I love that painting, too. I’m glad you had some time with your new nephew. Those are precious moments.

Thanks, Carl. The week back at school was a busy one, but a happy one. It was fun to be with the kids again. They make me laugh.

Thanks for visiting my blog, Scott. Your memory of reading and apples is lovely. For me it was always reading and carrots! ๐Ÿ™‚
