Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Reading Helpers.” I’m not shy about showing my bifocals because I appreciate them so much every minute of the day! My newest prescription was designed to enhance my reading, so I absolutely love them. My 93-year-old mother, who is my reading inspiration, will have a cornea replaced next week because it was interfering so much with her reading. So, bifocals or new corneas, it’s all about being able to see…and read!

I have a friend who just had a cornea transplant! Hope all goes well for your mom’s procedure. And I’m glad to know that you love your bi-focals. My doctor recommended that I get them a couple of years ago, but I held off and just got reading glasses. I’m now to the point where I’m ready to make the big switch. It’s a nuisance switching back and forth between having my glasses on my head or sitting on my nose. 😉

Les, do I dare admit that my brand new prescription, (just back from my yearly eye checkup) is for Tri-focals?? We’ve had the distance vision worked out, and a wonderful reading prescription…but my “browsing” distance vision has been blurry. Oh dear…if it’s not one thing it’s another! Thanks for your wishes for my mom. I’ll pass them along to her.
