Long-Awaited Reads Month

Long-Awaited Reads

Although I don’t sign up for many book challenges anymore (because I don’t seem to finish many of them!), I am going to participate in a fun January challenge hosted by my friends, Ana [Things Mean A Lot] and Iris [Iris on Books]. They call it the “Long-Awaited Reads Month,” and all you have to do is read a book or books that you have been intending to read for a long time. There is one book on my shelf that has been patiently awaiting “the right moment” for probably 35 years! (My list of excuses for not reading it before now is a history in itself!) I’m going to dust it off and read it for this challenge in January! The book? …Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude! Am I the last person on the planet to read it?

Les, a re-reading challenge sounds good, except that I’m really bad about starting strong and then not finishing my challenges anymore. My intentions are good, but if I can read [finish] one book for an organized challenge these days, I’m doing well. #scatteredreader!

I’ve tried at least twice to read this book, but just don’t seem to get it. Feeling very inadequate, I finally donated it to the library book sale. Am sure you’ll have better luck.

I signed up for this challenge too. I have a lot of books I pass by each day and think I SO want to read them, but I’m always in the middle of something else. If I read just one book, I’ll be happy.

Kristen, thanks! I hope I enjoy it, too!

JoAnn, I started it once long ago, but didn’t get very far. I hope I’m more successful with it this time around!

Nan, same here…so many things I want to read. And if I can finish this one book for this challenge, I’ll be very happy.

Thanks for putting together this challenge, Ana! And it feels really nice to be back to reading and blogging…and especially to reconnect with old friends!
