My Top Ten Reads of 2016

2016 has been a good reading year for me. I was “back to my books,” so to speak, and that’s a lovely feeling! Here are the covers to my top ten 5-star reviews on my Goodreads challenge page this year. Although I really enjoyed all of the books I read, my favorite of the year was one I have read numerous times in my life: The Fellowship of the Ring, by J.R.R. Tolkien. I will tell you the story of WHY it was my favorite in a separate post.

I hope that you enjoyed your 2016 reading. Happy New Year to each of you and best wishes for a wonderful reading year in 2017!

Ah, when I come here for such lists, I know I will see my old friends. I bet not one other list has Miss Read, let alone The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (which I must get), or Enid Blyton! And for all his popularity I rarely, rarely see AMS on any favorite books lists. Why is that?

Dear Nan, thank you for such a lovely comment! I really needed to read all those special authors and their kind and gentle books this year. They give me hope! Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family, and have a wonderful reading year!

Thank, Kelly! Happy New Year to you, too, and may you have a joyous reading year in 2017!

Oh, how I loved Enid Blyton when I was a little girl!

Our Souls at Night is a lovely, lovely gem of a book and I hope to read it again in the coming years. Kent Haruf will be deeply missed, won’t he?
