My audiobook pre-order of Doris Kearns Goodwin‘s new book, Leadership in Turbulent Times, arrived in the wee hours of this morning. It’s arrival is well-timed for me. We are leaving tomorrow for a week of travel and family. My mother’s Celebration of Life is on Saturday, and we are all gathering to honor and celebrate a life well lived.
Mom would have wanted to read or listen to this book and add it to the list of other DKG’s books she enjoyed. So in her memory and in honor of her passion for history, I will listen to this book for her.
Good for you, Robin! Hope you enjoy it very much. And I hope you have a wonderful family celebration of your sweet mother’s life. Big hugs!!

Thank you, Kay! I haven’t had much reading or listening time in these last few weeks, but the Celebration of Life went well and I am home again with time to read again! Hugs to you, too!

Enjoy DKG’s writing and her appearances on TV. Such an intelligent and well-versed woman. Sorry for the loss of your mom. I’m betting she’ll be “listening” with you! Safe travels this weekend.

I love it that you are doing this!! She is going to be in my state, and probably the appearance will be on my Public Radio station. I love her work but wish she hadn’t gotten a facelift (I never read she had, but she looks so different, I am assuming). I was also concerned about the plagiarism charges.

Thank you, Nan! I have some of the same concerns (I don’t understand face lifts!), but I’m hoping that the book is well done and will give me help and insights into this turbulent period of time!

I’m also planning to listen to this on audio. I’m a bit disappointed that she only reads the introduction and epilogue. I love her voice and would have liked to have heard her read the whole book. Beau Bridges might not be bad, though. 🙂 I had such a crush on him when he starred in The Other Side of the Mountain (a movie about the Olympic skier, Jill Kinmont)

Les, we’ll have to compare notes. I’ve only listened to her introduction so far, but now that I’m home again from our road trip, I can start listening to it in earnest!
