As Anne says in L. M. Montgomery’s timeless classic, Anne of Green Gables, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” This October was a particularly beautiful one here in Oregon! It was also a wonderful reading month for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my reading for the Readers Imbibing Peril-XIII challenge, and Dewey’s 24-hour Read-a-thon. Here are the covers of books read during this very successful reading month for me:
My husband and I also did a little bit of traveling this month. We spent a couple of days in the Seattle area where I met with my former teaching teammates and had a wonderful reunion lunch while Byron went on a bike ride. Also while in the area, he and I visited our favorite garden center, and the Yakima Fruit Market, and went out to eat at three of our old favorite restaurants. It was a great get-away!
We also spent a couple of days hiking in Silver Falls State Park. We enjoyed our first hike there so much we returned a week later and brought our daughter with us. We all loved hiking amongst gorgeous the autumn colors.
So all in all, it was a just a great October!
It looks and sounds like you had a fantastic October! I’m so glad you were able to enjoy Silver Falls not just once, but twice! I’m hoping we can get back there in 2019. I know my granddaughter would enjoy the hikes. My reading took a nosedive in October, but I’m looking forward to Nonfiction November and hope to get back in my reading groove.

Thanks, Les. We did love the hiking at Silver Falls and look forward to longer hikes next year. You’ve had a lot on your plate with both travel and your Dad’s illness, so your reading groove will return in due time. I so loved reading about your trip and seeing all the photos!

Oh, Robin, love the pictures! Glad you had such a good reading month. That’s a great one with you and the other two ladies. On to November, right?

Thanks, Kay! November always seems like such a short month to me…a left over feeling from my teaching years when so much had to packed into that month. I’m enjoying my reading, but am also trying to spend as much time as I can outdoors before the gray and the rain win out!

Thanks, Iliana! It really was a lovely month. It would be lovely if I could stash away some of the sunlight and colors for the middle of gray, rainy winter! My photos will help me with that, I’m hoping!

Oregon is such a beautiful state! My husband is from there, so I head out there a couple times a year. 😁

Rachel, we do love the beauty of Oregon! This summer we traveled through central and eastern Oregon and enjoyed a very different kind of beautiful out there. What part of Oregon is your husband from?

October was definitely a beautiful month, especially with over two weeks straight of no rain! Now with the time change and the rain, November is gloomy and dark. But we never expect anything different up here in the PNW, do we? 😉

Kristen, it’s been an amazingly dry year, although we’ve had some very rainy days recently. Just gorgeous, though, with so much color and beauty. It makes the gloomy and dark a little hard to accept, but like you say, “we never expect anything different up here in the PNW!”
