I love finding new series to read especially if they are mystery series! Recently, while waiting to meet friends for lunch, I browsed through the mystery section of a little bookstore in Edmonds, Washington. A series by Elly Griffiths caught my eye and looked very interesting, so I bought the first book, The Crossing Places. I read it in December, and yes, I’m hooked! I’m looking forward to reading all the others!

Robin, this is one of my favorite series ever. I’ve loved it and it’s one that make to a point to stay caught up on. I don’t have too many that I’m able to manage that. Anyway, the characters will grow on you even more and they become good friends. Enjoy!

I’m hoping I’ll be able to comment here… WordPress usually doesn’t like me at all and shoves my comments in the spambox. But here goes. Like Kay this is one of my favourite crime seres ever. The character of Ruth Galloway is one of the most inspired in the crime lit world in my opinion. I just love these books. I hope you enjoy them.

Cath, your comment came through just fine. Hooray! I get frustrated with some of the commenting problems, too. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’m glad to hear that you loved this series, too, and I’m excited to dive into book 2!

I’m sure you will love it! I couldn’t get into it, but I’m also the one person who doesn’t care for Louise Penny’s series. ;<))))

Nan, I enjoyed the first one. I hope I get really caught by the whole series–it’s so fun to find a series to love. I read about half of Louise Penny’s series and then just stopped and haven’t gotten back to them. I’ll have to use our family’s favorite answer to a question like that…our son introduced this phrase when he was just a toddler and we still use it today! Will I get back to reading LP’s series? “Maybe so and maybe not!” (I suspect he learned it from my Dad.)

I have listened to the first five in this series and now I’m ready to switch over to the print editions. I don’t pay enough attention to the mystery while I listen, so I’m hoping the print books will remedy that. I do love the characters and how their relationships have evolved. As for the Louise Penny series, I have only read two and I’m not yet a fan. I will try a few more since everyone says they really improve and pick up after #4 or #5.
To change the subject, isn’t Edmonds a quaint little town?! We used to take the ferry from Kingston over to Edmonds and I would love to spend more time there someday.

Les, we’ve always loved Edmonds! One of my former teaching partners lives there now. Lucky her! And I really liked that little bookstore there.

I love this series so I hope you enjoy it! I think the characters are really what make this a great one. I wasn’t too happy with the most recent one but I’m sure it’ll get back on track soon. At least I hope so.
