One of the things I love about living in Oregon is that winters are mild and the “spring” garden really comes to life in January and February! I guess our reward for the very dark and rainy days of November and December are the early bulbs in bloom in early February! Around here, my gardening friends plant their Sweet Peas on President’s Day! That all just fills my heart with gardening joy!
These snapshots from my yard and garden give you an idea of what early February is like in an Oregon town 30 miles west of Portland, up against the Coastal Range, 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean!
A Fondness For Reading 
Your daffs are a tiny bit further on than ours. We have helebores in flower and some early primroses. One of our camelias is almost out too, quite early but apart from one or two hard frosts we’ve had a mild winter. Lovely photos.

Thanks, Cath. I need to plant some helebores and more primroses! I love them both and don’t have any in our garden. It’s been a mild winter here, too. I think we’ve only had one hard frost all winter!

I noticed our first tiny primroses the other day, so Spring is on the way! I recently uncovered my copy of A Country Diary and now keep it next to my bed to dip in and out of. . .

I always loved the flowers in Oregon. Different ones than we have here. Bulbs don’t do as well in our area. Yes, all that rain is really a blessing for the plants in the Pacific Northwest. So gorgeous!

Kay, the rain is wonderful for plants here. We’ve had a lot more of it in the last few weeks, after being pretty dry December and most of January. Don’t you get wonderful wildflowers there? I’ve always wanted to see Texas when the wildflowers are in full bloom!

In So Cal we are green right now and chilly but all that green will be brown soon and the summer will be here in full force. We tried to move to Oregon once, Lake Oswego and Tualatin but it didn’t work out. I love that region.

We’ve had one primrose blooming since the New Year and one rhoddie on our corner with a few blossoms. Our neighborhood daffodils look like they’re ready to bloom, too. I love spring!

Les, spring in Oregon is a visual delight! I’m so glad I’ve been able to get out and walk around our neighborhood recently despite the self-isolation. I forget every year how beautiful our neighborhood is with funny old houses and gorgeous flowers everywhere!

Wow—such a wealth of color in February! Colorado this time of year is monochrome and I get starved for color. Definitely worth the rain to have such gems.
