September reflections…
September, this year, was an unusual month. The first half was filled with smoke and anxiety due to the many fires burning here in Oregon. The air quality was at the very hazardous level, and so our family all had to stay inside even more than usual — a quarantine within the quarantine! Many (but not all!) of the fires were finally brought under control, and the air cleared, so we could begin to enjoy the outdoors again, within the limitations of the pandemic.
With all of this necessary indoor time, I filled my hours with lots of reading. I focused mostly on reading mysteries for the Readers Imbibing Peril challenge, and thoroughly enjoyed myself! But I read other things, as well, including starting the first books for my annual Holiday reading. So all in all, September was a good, and very enjoyable, reading month for me.
A Fondness For Reading 
First of all, such a beautiful picture – clear sky and lovely Oregon. So sorry about the fires there and I’m sure it was very, very scary. However, as you say, you read a lot. Aren’t we glad we have books? I see that you’ve read more of the Virgin River books and also The Sea Detective. I read that one a couple of years ago and intended to read the next book in the series, but…you know how it goes. Good to hear about your September, Robin. Take care!

The fires have been horrible. I was so happy to see blue skies again.

Ti, we were so happy to see blue sky again, too! However, the smoke is back right now (until Monday or Tuesday), but it’s not as bad or hazardous as before. We hope it doesn’t get back to that level! Stay safe!

So sorry you had to deal with the effects of those fires. I’m looking forward to a few Christmas reads in November since I suspect the holidays will be quite different this year.

Thanks, Diane, we all seem to be dealing with Mother Nature in one way or another these day! I think you’re right about the holidays…they are going to be quite different this year, as is everything!

What a gorgeous picture, Robin! Where is the lake?
I’m happy we had a few days of sunshine (and warm temps!), but yes, the smoke did return. It’s gone again, but now we have cloudy skies. I guess fall is here to stay. Keep up the good reading and stay safe, my friend.

Thanks, Les. The photo was taken on our last trip to SLC. It’s Silver Lake at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, and my family went there often.

Sorry to hear about all the bush fires, but pleased you were able to escape into books that made September a good and enjoyable reading month for you. I hope October will be an equally good month for you. đŸ™‚

Thank you, Jessica. I’m hoping to continue with my quarantine reading and enjoy it in October. The fires are still burning, though, some in Oregon still, and many in California. The smoke is back here, this time blowing north from California, but not nearly as bad as before.

Thank goodness many of the fires have been controlled and now you can enjoy the outdoors again. That picture is so pretty. Love that you included a Nancy Drew mystery in your pile. I should re-read one of those.

Thanks, Iliana. There are still fires burning here in Oregon, but not as close to us. It’s going to take serious rains to return before they’re brought completely under control. But we’re grateful the air isn’t as bad as before, and we even had a week or so of blue, beautiful blue, sky! I’m enjoying my very slow re-reading of the original Nancy Drew books.
