I came across this painting by the Danish artist, Robert Panitzsch, and loved the feeling it gave me. It describes beautifully my Sunday afternoon reading mood! The book open on the chair would be my current read: A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry. And I would be taking just a brief break to make some more tea. How lovely to read in such a room with sunshine, open window, potted plants. The perfect Sunday afternoon!

I had not heard of Robert Panitzsch so I googled him and found his paintings. I love your Sunday afternoon inspiration and I was amazed at the number of his paintings that feature women reading! Thanks, Robin!

Marlo, I was happy to stumble across his work, too. I love that so many of his paintings are of readers!

This is lovely and reminds me of one of my favourite paintings, A Corner of the Artists Room in Paris by Gwen John. I love the book lying on the chair, we instantly feel at home and relaxed don’t we?!

Jane, I’d never heard of Gwen John so I looked her up and found her painting, A Corner of the Artist’s Room in Paris. You’re right! The paintings are very similar. I like them both! And I just love finding new (to me) artists to enjoy and appreciate! Thank you!

Good News! Gwen was hidden a bit by all the attention going to her brother Augustus, but I prefer her paintings, they seem very personal.

I really love this picture! I wonder what is in the bowl. Cookies?

Nan, I love this painting, too! If there were cookies in the bowl, though, they’d be completely gone now.😉
