Bibliotherapy

My husband had a bone scan done today. That meant a trip to the hospital at 11:00 to get the infusion, and then back to the hospital at 2:00 to get the scan done. Since it’s a distance to the hospital from our home, rather than driving back and forth, we decided to make good use of the in-between time and go out to lunch and then to the bookstore. It was so wonderful to be in the bookstore again! Spending time at Powell’s is definitely bibiotherapy!

Alison, this is one of the branches of Powell’s in Portland. It’s a wonderful bookstore, but the main Powell’s bookstore in downtown Portland is a phenomenal store and experience!

What a lovely thing, Robin! I know how you feel about soaking in the atmosphere. Just a query, that looks like the Powell’s in Beaverton – is it? I’ve been there many times – long ago now. LOL

I love Powell’s and I agree, it was an excellent use of your time.

I hope the bone scan comes back clean. Did you buy anything at the bookstore? I always have purchase anxiety walking into a bookstore. I have so many books to read, many on my Kindle, many review copies that I often can’t justify a buy unless it’s to support the indie bookstore. I have purchased many books to support these stores.

Thanks, Ti. I did buy some books — two gardening books and a notebook. I was overwhelmed with the choices, and I totally relate to your purchase anxiety! I’m also in a similar place as you in terms of buying actual books…I don’t buy many book books anymore and almost always from indie bookstores.

Thanks, Iliana. It was truly therapeutic to spend time in the bookstore — and most people were still wearing masks, so it felt good to hang out there. I bought two gardening books and a new notebook. (I can’t resist beautiful notebooks!)
