Nothing Gold Can Stay
~by Robert Frost, 1874-1963
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Achingly sad. Frost is so good. He understands life.

Iliana, lots of gold around the area this year!

Beautiful Robin. Still more green than gold here as we haven’t had a frost yet. We do have plenty of goldenrod as my allergies will attest.

Diane, those allergies are miserable! Hopefully, the frost will help take care of that soon.

Gorgeous photo, as is your header! I love autumn colors and we’ve had a nice time seeing hints of fall as we are traveling in Northern CA. I’ll bet the vine maple in OR is looking especially beautiful right about now, too.

Thank you, Les! The golds are gorgeous this year. The reds have been spectacular but I’m shocked at how fast they’ve fallen! Drought?
