Painting: The Garden, by Pauline Palmer (American, 1867-1938)
There have been many disruptions in my daily outdoor walking ritual in the last few months, cold and darkness accounting for most, but I am happy to report that I am back to my early morning walks! Two photos below, taken yesterday and the day before, show how beautiful it is out there and why I love these walks.
Same. Between the knee injury and then kidney surgery I am just now starting to take baby walks again. The pup is happy but also tries to pull me to go farther.

Ti, I’m so glad you are recovering and slowly getting back to walking. Those baby steps are so helpful and healing and will soon build into much bigger steps!

I’d like to be walking more as well, the weather is being to cooperate but, my walking partner husband has had some back problems so I found myself making excuses not to — it’s so good for our mental health.

So true that it is good for our mental health! When the weather is cold and it’s so dreary outside, it’s easy to talk myself out of it. I hope your walking partner feels better soon (those darn back problems!) and you. It’s can get back to those walks. Byron is still able to do short walks, so those are short, slow and lovely walks together in the afternoon.

I love this post as well, Robin. My walking has been a mental health thing for me as well as a physical movement thing.

Lovely. And the picture and quote at the beginning are perfect, I’ve copied them I hope you don’t mind? Who is the artist, do you know?

Thank you, Jane. I loved the painting but couldn’t find the name of the painter. However, I did a google images search, uploaded the photo, and found that it was painted by American artist, Pauline Palmer. I’ll add her name to the image. Thank you for your question!

I try to get out and walk every day, but I usually go mid-afternoon rather than morning. Aren’t we lucky to live in such beautiful areas? It makes such a difference.
