Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “e-books or e-reader.” I pre-ordered this Kindle book quite awhile ago, although most of the time I get my e-books from the library. This morning, when I turned on my Kindle, there it was! I love this book and this author, so I was very happy to see that much of her work is now available for my e-reader.

Library
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Library.” My “new” library is within walking distance of our new home in Oregon. It reminds me a lot of the little library I spent so much time in when I was little…a small library with a wonderful collection and a big heart!

Inspiration
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Inspiration.” Those of you who have been following this blog since I started it seven years ago already know about my 93-year-old mother. She is an avid reader and a true inspiration to me (in every way). I started this blog as a new way of sharing books with her!

Events
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Events.” Another school-related photo: Getting together with our 5th grade buddies for a Read Across America read-a-thon! (Our school does Read Across America activities for the whole month of March.)

Readalong
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Readalong.” My sweet Second Grade students have recently finished their first ‘readalong.’ Our project was a whole-class sharing of the Newbery Honor Award book, The Courage of Sarah Noble, by Alice Dalgleish. They did a wonderful job taking turns reading aloud, participating in class discussions [I was impressed by their insights], and working with a partner on assignments and activities. I could tell they enjoyed the book because they keep talking about it and I’ll occasionally hear them say, “That was just like in Sarah Noble”…

Heart
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Heart.” A book that touched the hearts of my students this year was The Wizard of Oz! They loved this read-aloud and still talk about it. Who can blame them? It’s a wonderful tale with a lot of heart!

Slump
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Slump.” There’s nothing better for a reading slump than spending time with the Grandboy reading every book on the shelf!

Drink of Choice
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Drink of Choice.” This is actually my second drink of choice…this Starbucks “tall vanilla latte.” My first drink of choice is actually a Tully’s “tall vanilla latte.” I like Tully’s coffee better…and it doesn’t hurt that Tully’s has been bought by Dr. McDreamy!

Blanket
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Blanket.” My next knitting project is a blanket for reading on chilly mornings!

Other Pastimes
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Other Pastimes.” My husband and I both love to read, but we also love to watch old movies and TV series. At the moment, we have just finished watching the British detective series, “Vera,” based on the books of Ann Cleeves [watch a short interview with Ann Cleeves here.] And we are currently enjoying our own “film festival” of all the old (and newer) Sir Alec Guinness movies and series. What a wonderful pleasure!

Lighting
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Lighting.” I have a serious reading lamp on my nightstand…thanks to my architect husband.

Reading Helpers
Today’s topic for The Estella Society’s bookish photo-a-day challenge is “Reading Helpers.” I’m not shy about showing my bifocals because I appreciate them so much every minute of the day! My newest prescription was designed to enhance my reading, so I absolutely love them. My 93-year-old mother, who is my reading inspiration, will have a cornea replaced next week because it was interfering so much with her reading. So, bifocals or new corneas, it’s all about being able to see…and read!
