Checking In…

I always think of my Dad when I use the term “Checking In.” That was a cardinal family rule…we ALWAYS had to “check in” to let our parents know where we were or were going to be. Well, I haven’t been very good about “checking in” with this blog recently. There has been a lot of LIFE happening in the last few months, [happy and busy times] and I’ve been immersed in the moment.

My summer was full of family and joy. The slower pace was wonderful. Now that school is back in full swing, I miss that more reasonable pace of life, and my reading time!  I remind my students every day that it’s not about how fast you finish, but about the quality you put into it. I need to listen to myself! I can’t really slow down the pace of the school year, but I need to remember to take time for myself, for the little things…and for my reading, too.

Nice to “hear” from you again, Robin! I’m glad you had a good summer. Work is getting busier for me (as it always does this time of year), but as winter approaches, I’ll have more time to curl up with my books on the weekends and in the evenings. I’m looking forward to that down time, but not the cold temps!

There is more than you who only checks in now and then on their blog. Google reader keeps everything there for when you get a chance to say hi!
New school years can knock the stuffing out of the best laid plans. Enjoy your books and students, and take time for yourself, and now and then, us.
