This is such a nice week for reading! I love the days following the busy-ness of Christmas! And I love having some quiet time to read book presents and finish up books started before the holiday rush. I am currently reading a number of books. I’m almost finished with a book on my Kindle about Iceland and Icelanders. I’m halfway through another audiobook mystery by Deborah Crombie. And my daughter gave me this book for Christmas, so I’m reading it now, too!

A Fondness For Reading 
I am listening to my second Deborah Crombie book, thanks to you. I am reading The Starless Sea. I wasn’t sure I liked it at the beginning because there are so many changes in time and place but now that I am well into it I am liking it more and more!

I too have The Starless Sea, my daughter gave it to me for Christmas. Not planning to read it just yet though. I’m currently reading or ‘re’reading a Cadfael omnibus of the first three books in the series. Forgotten how excellent Ellis Peters’ writing was, wonderful sense of place in the Welsh forests. My family just went home after Christmas and, like you Robin, I plan to sit by the fire and enjoy some wonderful reading.

Cath, I need to get back to reading the Cadfael series. I loved the ones I read years ago (the first four?). It sounds like you had a lovely Christmas, but those quiet moments afterwards are wonderful, too. Enjoy your reading!

I just finished listening to Maybe You Should Talk to Someone (Lori Gottlieb) and have started listening to Cold Dish (Craig Johnson). I’m just about finished with The Dreamers (Karen Thompson Walker), which has been an edge-of-your seat read!

Les, is this the first book you’ve read of the Longmire series? I really enjoy them, and love the novellas and short stories he’s published along with the main books in the series. The Dreamers sounds like an interesting one. I’ll have to look for it. Maybe You Should Talk to Someone has also been on my radar. So many good books out there!

Yes, this is the first of the Longmire series that I’ve read. I’m all caught up on the series on Netflix, but have always wanted to try the books. To be honest, I’m not really thrilled with the audiobook. The reader takes some getting used to.

The reader grew on me. I think the series got better from the first book. I’m on book 7 but am not reading them as fast as I am the Deborah Crombie series. It may be one of those tv series that’s better than the books, although I like both.
